Red Beckfordi Pencilfish is a peaceful surface-oriented shoaler. Pencilfish and hatchets take small foods from the top and need calm water, cover and — for hatchets especially — a secure lid.
Care tips
- Keep a tight-fitting lid — hatchetfish are champion jumpers.
- Offer small floating/surface foods and frozen micro-foods.
- Soft water, gentle flow and a shoal of 6+ keep them settled.
